Dr. Danielle van Hout is Science Leader, Sensory Science in Global Foods R&D at Unilever in Vlaardingen, The Netherlands. She has been working in Unilever R&D for 23 years in various roles as Sensory team leader, Global innovation project leader, and Expertise team leader. Danielle implemented various novel sensory and consumer tests in Unilever. She collaborates with leading scientists to develop effective sensory test methods and ecologically valid consumer research methods for FMCG. In 2014 she received her PhD at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, Institute of Management, on: “Measuring meaningful differences – Sensory testing based decision making in an industrial context; applications of signal detection theory & Thurstonian modeling”.
