The Institute for Perception has had a special interest in all technical aspects of Advertising Claim Support and Claim Substantiation for more than 15 years. This interest is exemplified by the work we do for the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the council of Better Business Bureaus as well as an especially developed course dedicated to the presentation and discussion of advertising claims-related issues. We have provided expert witnessing for the NAD and litigated cases for many product categories. Recent issues in the area that we have addressed include finding support for superiority, equivalence, and ratio claims and analytical aspects in handling ‘No preference’ responses in a paired preference test. This expertise makes us uniquely suited to manage projects for claim substantiation and allows suitable design and data collection to ensure that the data and findings fit the prospective claim.
